GMAT

The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is an international standardized test designed to test certain analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written English of the examinee for admission to a graduate management program, such as an MBA or another management diploma of same stature. Other than that, it also accesses data sufficiency, logic, and critical reasoning skills which are essential components needed in management and business success. The test is taken by millions of students India every year who are seeking higher studies in management.

The test is computer-based and uses percentile scoring in verbal and quant sections. Percentile parallels to the percentage of people whose score is lower than yours.

The test is adaptive in nature, i.e.  This means that the difficulty of each question you encounter is determined by how you answered the previous question of the same type. As the test is computer-based, so, if you answer these early questions correctly, the subsequent questions in that same topic will jump up a level of difficulty; and if you answer them incorrectly, your next questions in that topic.

GMAT is a registered trademark of the Graduate Management Admission Council. Around 10000 programs in various universities world-wide consider GMAT score as very important in their selection criteria. The test started in 1953 and since then is taken by millions of students globally for admission into business schools across the world.

GMAT TEST OVERVIEW

The official GMAT test has four different sections: The Analytical Writing Assessment section, Integrated Reasoning section, Quantitative Aptitude section, Verbal Reasoning section 

  • Analytical Writing Assessment: 30 minutes
  • Integrated Reasoning: 30 minutes
  • Quant: 62 minutes
  • Verbal : 65 minutes

Total time of the test: 3.5 hours (approx.)

  • Computer-based test: conducted many times a year- You can retake the GMAT up to 5 times in any 12-month period.
  • Your GMAT score will remain valid for 5 years.
  • Around 700 testing centers in 100+ countries administer the GMAT Exam.
  • 9 out of 10 new MBA enrollments are made using a GMAT score.
  • The test is conducted in English.

GMAT TEST FORMAT

  1. GMAT Analytical Writing section description:
  • The analytical writing section measures your ability to think critically and to communicate your ideas.
  • The analytical writing section is graded on a scale of 0-6.
  • Test time for the Analytical Writing is 30 minutes.
  • There will be 1 question only in this section.

 

  1. GMAT Integrated Reasoning section  description
  • The Integrated Reasoning section measures your ability to analyze data and evaluate information presented in multiple formats.
  • The Integrated Reasoning section is scored on a scale of 1 to 8.
  • Test time for the Integrated Reasoning section is 30 minutes
  • There will be 12 questions in this section.

 

 

  1. GMAT Quantitative Aptitude section  description
  • The Quant section measures your ability to analyze data and draw conclusions using reasoning skills.
  • The Quant section is graded on a scale of 0 to 60.
  • Test time is 62 minutes for this section.
  • There will be total 31 questions in this section.
  1. GMAT Verbal Reasoning section  description
  • Verbal Reasoning section measures the ability to read and understand written material, to assess arguments and to correct written material to obey standard written English.
  • The Verbal reasoning section is scaled from 200 to 800.
  • Test time is 65 minutes for this section.
  • There will be 36 questions in this section.
